How to bid on a Tay Township tax sale

Most Ontario tax sales are sealed tenders with one chance to bid. There is no second round.

  1. Get the tender form (Form 7) from the Township of Tay or the Government of Ontario's forms site.
  2. Bid at least the minimum tender amount, and attach a deposit of at least 20 percent of your bid by money order, bank draft or certified cheque made out to the Township of Tay.
  3. Seal it in an envelope addressed to the treasurer, marked as a tax sale and naming the property. It must reach the office by the deadline on closing day, which the rules set at 3:00 p.m. local time.
  4. The highest valid bid wins. The winner has 14 days from the day the treasurer's notice is mailed to pay the balance, land transfer tax and any taxes that have built up since.

You cannot go onto the property first, someone may be living there, and a sale can be cancelled right up to the end. Read how Ontario tax sales work before you bid.

Is there a Tay Township tax sale right now?

Yes. Tay Township has 13 properties open for bids, and bids close on Wednesday, November 25, 2026.

How often does Tay Township hold tax sales?

Where are Tay Township tax sales advertised?

Every Ontario tax sale must be advertised once in the Ontario Gazette and once a week for four weeks in a local newspaper. Where there is no suitable newspaper, the notice is posted at the municipal office and one other prominent place instead.

What is the minimum bid at a Tay Township tax sale?
